Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to take up repair work of small temples inside Jagannath Temple premises in Puri.
The court issued the directive after going through the affidavit filed by the ASI on the report of its inspection of 13 small temples around the main temple. In the report, the ASI has stated about the need to repair 13 small temples. Of the small temples, six are in a precarious state.
The court directed the ASI to take up the repair work of these six temples on a priority basis and the remaining seven temples in a phased manner.
Apart from this, the ASI also filed a separate affidavit on the repair of Jaya Vijaya Dwar which, it said, had begun on May 12.
The court directed the ASI to submit a status report on the repair work of the Jaya Vijaya Dwar and small temples in its next hearing scheduled for July 5.
