Chennai: A 27-year-old woman was admitted to a government hospital in Tamil Nadu on Saturday to treat injuries that she sustained during a domestic dispute.
On Sunday, the woman was stabbed to death by her husband in the hospital in Karur district.
Shruthi, the victim, had an argument with her husband Vishruth a day earlier. Things turned violent, and Shruthi, a mother of two, fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital, India Today reported.
According to police, Vishruth entered the hospital on Sunday morning, approached Shruthi as she lay unconscious and stabbed her thrice. Before stunned and flabbergasted hospital staff could react, the accused fled the scene.
Kulithalai Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for Vishruth who carried out the chilling murder.
Several cases of fatal domestic violence have been reported from different districts of Tamil Nadu.
In April, a 62-year-old man in Tiruchi district poured kerosene on his sleeping wife and set her ablaze. The woman succumbed to her burn injuries.
Earlier this month, a woman councillor belonging to Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party was hacked to death by her husband in Avadi district.
