Mumbai: Actress Tanushree Dutta, who was at the forefront of India’s #MeToo movement in 2018, has issued a distressing plea for help, alleging that she has been continuously harassed in her own home. In an emotional video posted on Instagram, Dutta broke down in tears and claimed that her health and safety were in danger, even within her private residence.
In the video, Dutta said she had been “targeted very badly” over the past several years, and accused unknown individuals of planting domestic workers in her household who allegedly tampered with her drinking water. “I feel unsafe in my own home. My health is ruined, my house is in a mess. Please someone do something,” she pleaded.

The actress revealed that she has filed a complaint with the police, adding that she has been “fighting alone” ever since she spoke out against actor Nana Patekar during the #MeToo movement. Dutta reiterated that her life has been adversely affected since she made the allegations and claimed the harassment has continued in various forms, leaving her physically and emotionally drained.
Dutta had previously alleged that Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss in 2008. The complaint sparked a major wave of revelations in Bollywood, but a case filed by her against Patekar was quashed earlier this year due to insufficient evidence. In light of the court’s decision, Dutta had earlier vowed to appeal, insisting that her voice had been systematically silenced and her witnesses intimidated.
Her latest video has drawn a wave of support on social media, with fans and activists calling for urgent intervention and expressing concern over her well-being. As of now, the police have not issued an official statement regarding the complaint or any ongoing investigation.
Dutta’s plea once again raises serious concerns about the protection and mental health of women who speak out against systemic abuse and the long-term consequences they face in its aftermath.
