New Delhi: Tata’s compact SUV Nexon has become a popular model with more than 4K units being sold (Source: Team BHP report) every month.
Now, it has launched the automatic version of the Nexon at Rs 9.41 lakh for the petrol and diesel variant at Rs 10.3 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Nexon AMT has been launched only in the top spec version, named XZA+.
Tata has installed a six-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) gearbox in the automatic Nexon. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine produces the same 110hp power and 170Nm torque. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine is also the same as in the manual variant producing 110hp of power and 260Nm of torque. The gearbox has a manual mode option, hill-assist, and creep function for heavy traffic. There are multiple engine modes – Eco, City and Sport which change the revs and throttle response.
A new dual-tone orange and silver colour option has been added.
Projector lamps with LED daytime running lights, front fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels with 215/60 tyres, 60:40 split folding rear seats, Android Auto compatible Harman 6.5-inch infotainment system and a wearable smart key (1st in segment) are standard. Safety wise, ABS and dual airbags are standard on both variants.
The Nexon AMT goes head-to-head with Ford Ecosport and Maruti Suzuki Breeza. However, it is nearly Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the top spec Ecosport petrol automatic. Ecosport and Breeza do not have a diesel automatic yet. Only Mahindra TUV300 has an AMT diesel which costs around Rs 34K more than the Nexon diesel AMT, but being a body-on-frame SUV, it isn’t exactly a direct competitor.
The on-road price of Tata Nexon Petrol AMT in Bhubaneswar is expected to be Rs 10,51,141 and that of the diesel variant Rs 11,67,829.
