Mumbai: India hammered England by a massive 150 runs in the fifth and final T20 International on Sunday night to complete a 4-1 series win.
After Abhishek Sharma’s record-smashing knock of 135 (54 balls, 7×4, 13×6) guided the home team to an imposing total of 247/9, England lost wickets in a rush in their pursuit of a stiff target to be bowled out for 97 in 10.3 overs.
Opener Phil Salt was the only England batter to find his bearings, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes in a 23-ball 55. The others perished trying to go for big shots from the time they started their innings.
As many as eight batsmen fell for single-digit scores as Mohammed Shami (3/25) got back among wickets after 14 months. Varun Chakravarthy (2/25) was adjudged Player of the Series for claiming 15 wickets in 5 games. Allrounders Abhishek and Shivam Dube chipped in 2 wickets apiece.
