Team India Ready To Stay In Quarantine For Playing Money-Spinning Australia Test Series

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team is ready to sacrifice and stay in isolation for two weeks upon reaching Australia for playing the money-minting bilateral test series, informed a top official on Friday.

In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald, Indian cricket treasurer Arun Dhumal said that Team India is prepared for taking all the safety measures, including a 14-day quarantine period, for playing the bilateral series to replenish its coffers.

“Two weeks is not that long a lockdown. That would be ideal for any sportsman because when you are in quarantine for such a long period, then going to another country and having a two-week lockdown it would be a good thing to do. We’ll have to see what the norms are post this lockdown,” Dhumal was quoted by AFP as saying.

“Once we are sure when cricket will resume, then only will we be able to take a final call on that,” he added.

When asked if  T20I World Cup is on cards this year, the senior BCCI official said that it is difficult to hold any global event this year because of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They will have been out of cricket for a long time. Would you want to be without training for that long and straight away go and play [the] World Cup?” he said. “That is a call every board has to take. It seems to be difficult,” he added.
