Patna: Even as Lalu Prasad Yadav celebrated the birth of his grandson from his younger son Tejashwi Yadav, his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, broke his silence for the first time in two days after being expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for six years, on grounds of morality.
Tej Pratap congratulated his younger brother, Tejashwi on Tuesday and posted: “With the infinite grace and blessings of Shri Banke Bihari Ji, I have got the good fortune of becoming the Bade Baba (elder father) on the arrival of the newborn baby.”
In certain parts of India, including parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the father’s elder brother is referred to as Bade Baba or Bade Papa by children.
Tej Pratap shared a photograph of the newborn along with Tejashwi with the post.
“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to younger brother Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and Raj Shri Yadav… My affectionate blessings and love to the nephew,” he added.
Tej Pratap was expelled both from the RJD and the family by Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday after a Facebook post started doing the rounds. The post had a photograph of Tej Pratap and a woman named Anushka Yadav. The purported post by Tej Pratap claimed that he has been in a relationship with that woman for the past 12 years.
This came at a time when Tej Pratap and his wife are fighting a legal battle for divorce.
“The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behaviour of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions… I remove him from the party and the family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party and the family. He is expelled from the party for six years,” Lalu had stated in a post on X.
Tuesday started with Tejashwi posting: “Good Morning! The wait is finally over! So grateful, blessed and pleased to announce the arrival of our little boy. Jai Hanuman!”
The child was born at a private hospital in Kolkata and among the first, from outside the family, to visit was West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
While Lalu and wife Rabri Devi are in Kolkata, it is not known whether Tej Pratap visited the hospital as well. Tejashwi had stood by his father’s decision against his elder brother and stated that people need to keep their political and private lives separate.
Tej Pratap had claimed that his Facebook account has been hacked and the post was not his.
