Patna: “It is experience and not a degree that matters,’ former Bihar deputy chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said in an interview on Sunday in response to a jibe about his educational qualifications by former political strategist and present day politician Prashant Kishor.
“No… it doesn’t hurt me. You cannot get all the qualities just by having a degree. You have seen many things in practical life, but your experience about those is so limited. And I was a sportsperson, I am a cricketer, but he will not talk about that,” Tejashwi said in an exclusive interview to ANI.
According to him, there are doubts about the educational qualifications of Prime Minister Narendra Modi but he has led the country for 11 years.
“If it is a matter of a degree, then, for eleven years, till date, the people of the country do not know what his degree is. But fingers are pointed at us. So far as we are concerned, we will respect whoever is given the highest post,” Lalu Prasad Yadav’s youngest son said.
Defending his qualifications as a sportsperson, Tejashwi emphasised that leadership and capability cannot be judged solely by degrees. Having a degree alone does not make someone a great leader.
On June 5, Kishor, founder of the Suraaj Party, had hit out at Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying that while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief has aspirations for his son, Tejaswhi Yadav – who has not even passes Class-IX – to become the ‘King of Bihar’, the deserving children of common people are not getting jobs despite completing their graduations.
In a veiled attack on the former railway minister and Bihar chief minister, Kishor said that he is only praising Lalu, and people should learn from him about how to take care of their children.
“We need to learn from Lalu Prasad Yadav how to worry about our children. Lalu ji’s son did not pass the IXth class, but he is so worried about his child that he still wants him to become the King of Bihar. When we say this, people say that we constantly accus him. No! We are praising Lalu Yadav,” Kishor had said while addressing a public gathering in Bihar’s Saran.
