Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has decided to remove minister Konda Surekha from the state Cabinet with immediate effect, the Chief Minister’s Office said on Thursday.
The CMO said a recommendation for Surekha’s removal from the Council of Ministers has already been forwarded to the Governor.
The appointment of State Planning Board Vice-Chairman G Chinna Reddy has also been cancelled.
Surekha’s daughter Konda Susmita Patel and Chinna both made allegations about senior leaders of the Congress. Susmita accused Revanth Reddy of giving prime land to a shell company allegedly linked to his brother for a price far below its value. Chinna, on the other hand, claimed that Wanaparthy MLA T Megha Reddy was offered a party ticket after being enticed with money.
Though Surekha distanced herself from her daughter’s comments and said she should not be held accountable for what Susmita had said, some MLAs called for action against the minister.
Upset with the action against her mother, Konda Susmita said injustice had been done to her mother.
“Injustice has been done to my mother. I am deeply hurt that my mother has been treated like this,” Susmita told CNN-News18.
“My statement was personal and not against any party. I just spoke against one person in my personal capacity.”
Susmita made it clear she will continue to stand up for her mother. “My mother will not be silenced. I curse Revanth Reddy,” she pronounced.
Susmita issued a direct challenge to the chief minister.
“I challenge Revanth Reddy to contest from the seat of my mother,” Surekha’s daughter dared.
