Bhubaneswar: The day temperature in Odisha is likely to fall by 2-4 degree Celsius after 24 hours amid forecast for heavy rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.

According to the weather agency, conditions are likely to become favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon over some more parts of central and adjoining east India around June 14.  The progress of monsoon has remained stalled since May 29 following its early onset. Experts had then opined that it will gather steam only after a fresh weather system forms.

While a cyclonic circulation currently lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Coastal Andhra Pradesh coast, another over north Odisha & neighbourhood has become less marked.

Under the influence of these systems, heavy rainfall may lash several places in Odisha till June 17. Thunderstorm activity may also continue till June 13.

June 11

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts.

Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.

June 12

Heavy rain is likely to continue in the state for the next 4 days.

Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandahamal, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Koraput.

June 15

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Malkangiri.

June 16

Malkangiri and Koraput.

June 17

Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.

The weather agency further stated that there will little change in the weather conditions during the subsequent 3 days.
