Cuttack: Tension gripped Buxi Bazaar in Odisha’s Cuttack city last night after a SUV rammed into a motorcycle and hit pedestrians at the fruit market, leaving several persons injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the black Scorpio with a West Bengal registration number was overspeeding and doubling down, when stopped by people in the market. “My son had gone to the market to fetch groceries, when the SUV collided with his bullet. The person at the wheels was driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol. When questioned, he spoke in a threatening manner” Kuni Behera, mother of the motorcycle rider, told a local channel.
While her son sustained severe injuries, the bullet, which he had bought a month ago, was damaged in the accident.
Police were called in as the situation became tense following a scuffle between the driver and locals. The cops soon reached the spot and pacified the enraged locals. The driver of the SUV was also taken into custody.
