New Delhi: In a major anti-piracy crackdown, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in coordination with Delhi Police Crime Branch, has seized around 32,000 fake textbooks during a raid in Ghaziabad on Friday.

The pirated textbooks which were seized covered various classes and subjects.

The raid was conducted at a printing press in Jawli village, in Ghaziabad’s Loni.

Officials of NCERT’s Publication Division assisted Crime Branch police in identifying and verifying the counterfeit material.

In an important advisory, NCERT has urged students and parents to purchase textbooks only from authorised sellers and report any suspected cases of piracy to NCERT or local authorities.

The Ghaziabad printing facility will be under lens as any unauthorised printing, distribution or sale of NCERT books is punishable by law.

More than 4.7 lakh pirated NCERT textbooks have been seized across India since 2024.

NCERT has implemented several measures to curb textbook piracy, such as a 20 per cent reduction in textbook prices, timely printing and distribution, improved paper and printing quality using modern machines, and the promotion of online textbook sales through e-commerce platforms.
