Thank You Note From Odisha To AIIMS-New Delhi For Jaga-Balia’s Successful Surgeries
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sent a letter of appreciation to the team of doctors and paramedics of AIIMS-New Delhi, who conducted the surgeries to separate conjoined twins Jaga-Balia.
In a letter to AIIMS-New Delhi director, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, PK Mohapatra expressed his sincere gratitude to the team of doctors and paramedics. “It is one of the rarest of rare surgeries, thus making history in medical sciences. I once again convey my best wishes to all the members of the team for their successful future career,” he wrote.
The conjoined twins from Odisha’s Kandhamal district underwent the first stage surgery, lasting 25 hours, on August 28, 2017. The final separation of the children was done on October 25, 2017, and this operation lasted 20 hours.

After spending over two years at AIIMS-New Delhi, Jaga and Balia were discharged from the hospital in September 2019. After returning to Odisha, they were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
