New Delhi: Aadarsh Tripathy, a Grade 12 student from Odisha, has debuted with his first literary work, The Public’s President, capturing the tenure of Droupadi Murmu, the 15th President of India, the first from Odisha and the first from a tribal background to grace the top office.

The book was formally released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in the presence of Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and Chairperson, SAI International Education Group, Silpi Sahoo, on Thursday at India Habitat Centre here, on the eve of Murmu completing three years in office.

Published by Aakar Books, The Public’s President offers a compelling and timely examination of the Indian Presidency from the viewpoint of a young, engaged citizen, said a press release.   Focused on the Presidency of Droupadi Murmu, the book transcends traditional biography. It serves instead as a civic reflection designed to ignite awareness among students and youth about the Presidency’s evolving role in India’s constitutional and democratic framework. Through clear language and insightful analysis, Tripathy places Rashtrapati Bhavan within wider discussions of constitutional values, public service, and inclusive leadership. The book encourages readers, particularly the younger generation, to see leadership not just as an office, but as a source of inspiration and social commitment.

Launching the book, Pradhan said, “At a time when many young people are focused on startups and digital ventures, it’s heartening to see Aadarsh taking the path of authorship. His dedication is inspiring. And, truly, the life and journey of Droupadi Murmu offers one of the finest examples and guiding lights for today’s youth.”

Mahtab observed the book is not just a narration of the Indian Presidency, but a reflection of deep-rooted Odia pride. He remarked, “Aadarsh’s book is written with passion and infused with a sense of drama — not for embellishment, but in the way it presents facts so vividly that readers can truly visualize them. That, to me, is the mark of a successful writer.”

Praising the young author who was a student of SAI international School, Bhubaneswar, Sahoo said, “It has been a joy and a privilege to witness Aadarsh grow into a remarkable writer. This book is not just a tribute, but a celebration of a living constitution. Aadarsh has given voice to the aspiration of millions. It is heartening to see that his book has the ability to speak to young minds. “This book emphasizes leadership is not about power but purpose”, she noted.

Reflecting on his motivation, Tripathy said, “I didn’t start writing to craft a flawless narrative, but to uncover the truth — the truth behind how a representative from a janjatiya background rose to become the President of India. Her struggles are not just personal milestones, but powerful symbols of hope. Her journey marks a turning point. It encourages the youth to believe in their dreams and to pursue them with courage.” When asked what next, he shared, “I will now move around various schools in Odisha and engage in book-reading with students to spread this message.”
