Theatre Personalities, Actors Of Odisha Condole Demise Of Ebrahim Alkazi
Bhubaneswar: Reputed theatre personalities and film actors of Odisha have expressed their condolences on the demise of architect of modern Indian theater Ebrahim Alkazi.
Members of ‘Mukti’, a contemporary theatre group of Bhubaneswar, including director Surya Mohanty (a product of NSD 1981 batch), president of ‘Mukti’ Silabhadra Sastry, actors Ushasi Mishra and Satyabrat Panigrahi have condoled the demise of Alkazi.
Alkazi died in Delhi following a heart attack. He was 94. Alkazi, who was the longest serving director of the National School of Drama (NSD), produced plays such as Girish Karnad’s ‘Tughlaq’ and Dharamvir Bharati’s ‘Andha Yug’. He also mentored generations of actors, including Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri.
