Angul: In a bizarre incident at Jarapada near here, a man caught stealing was roughed up by inmates and neighbours Sunday night before being handed over to the police.
The thief was caught stealing valuables in the house of Chakradhar Sahu at Korada Amburi street, thanks to Dipen, a14-year-old brave boy in the family, who was awakened by a noise of things falling off an almirah. The miscreant was collecting gold ornaments after picking a mobile phone and some cash from under the pillow of Chakradhar when Dipen caught hold of the thief’s throat.
Two accomplices of the thief who were waiting in the bushes heard the commotion in the house and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, neighbours also joined in bashing the accused, identified as Sagar Singh of Putgadia village, before handing him over to the police.
