Bhubaneswar: Miscreants allegedly broke into the residence of Panchayati Raj department additional director at Gandamunda under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar and decamped with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakh during early hours of Tuesday.
Sources said the theft took place in the same room where the official and his wife were sleeping.
On being informed, Khandagiri police reached the spot and initiated a probe.
