New Delhi: Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Friday confirmed that the state has reported the third case of monkeypox in Malappuram. The 35-year-old person had come from UAE on July 6.
He had a fever from July 13 and developed symptoms on July 15. He is at present admitted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital. The state health department has asked those who have come into contact with this person to go into isolation.
The district health administration of Malappuram has begun the contact tracing and all the samples of the people on the primary list will be sent for testing.
On Monday, a 31-year-old man from Kannur tested positive for monkeypox. He arrived in Kerala last week from Dubai, making it the second case in Kerala and India this year.
