This Actress Didn’t Even Collect Her First Award, Breaks Story After 14 Years

It takes many years to become an overnight sensation. And Bollywood has a plethora of inspiring stories of overnight success.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has completed 14 years in the industry today. Starting her journey with Anurag Basu’s Gangster, the ‘Queen’ actress got embarrassed when she could not travel to Singapore to collect her first actress award because of financial problems.

“I had no idea that I was nominated. When the team was leaving for the event, they asked me about my travel plans. I had no idea how to go to Singapore, where to stay, and I was too embarrassed to even ask my crew about ticket prices. So I missed that opportunity,” Ranaut was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.

Honoured with India’s fourth-highest civilian award, Padma Shri, the actress has won three National awards as Best Supporting Actress for ‘Fashion’ (2009), and Best Actress awards for ‘Queen’ (2015) and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ (2016).

Kangana will be next seen in ‘Thalaivi’, which is based on the life story of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
