Three Arrested For Milk Trader’s Murder In Berhampur

Berhampur: Police have arrested three persons, including the mastermind, in the alleged murder of a milk trader in the city.

The arrested have been identified as Rupesh Padhy alias Lala (mastermind), Shiva Mahankuda, both natives of Neheru Nagar under Gosaninuagaon police limits, and Ranjit Sahu, a cab driver residing at Duduma Colony under Badabazar police limits.

Two more accused are still at large, police sources said.

Rupesh Padhy was working as a driver of the milk company. He along with his associates had entered the office-cum-residence of Lambodar Muni, a proprietor of milk products of a popular brand. at Hillpatna with an intention of robbery on June 13. They, however, smothered Muni to death with a gamucha (towel) and fled from the spot with huge cash and gold jewellery.

Based on a complaint lodged by the manager of the dairy company, a case was registered under Sections 458/394/302 of IPC at Gosaninuagaon police station the following day.

The trio was arrested on June 17 and 18 and Rs 4 lakh in cash, a gold chain weighing 98 gram, a wristwatch, a pair of gold earring weighing 3 gram and a gold finger ring seized from their possession, the sources added.
