Three Arrested Over Procurement Of Spurious Favimax Tablets In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested three persons of a dubious drug distribution company in connection with the alleged fake medicine case.
Briefing the media, Additional Director General, Law and Order Yashwant Jethwa said a director of Cuttack-based Medilloyd Medicament Private Limited and two key members of the company have been arrested. The accused persons are being forwarded to court.
“The firm had conspired to procure Favimax tablets from Max Relief Health Care at a very low price (Rs 65 per strip of 10 tablets) and sell them at Rs 1290 per strip,” he added.
He further said that the investigation revealed that Max Relief Health Care was a dubious drug manufacturing company, claiming to be manufactured drugs in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. “It was run by two persons. Both of them were arrested by Mumbai Police earlier this month. Cases have been registered against these two in other states too,” he said.
The Crime Branch STF team of Odisha is now in Maharashtra to collect further evidence, he said, adding that two other teams are conducting investigations in Odisha and West Bengal.
Jethwa further said that the STF has frozen over Rs 50 lakh in the bank accounts of these three arrested persons and the company.
