Parlakhemundi: At least three motorcyclists sustained injuries after a bridge collapsed near Jagannathpur village under Gumma block of Gajapati district on Tuesday.
The victims were immediately rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by locals.
According to available information, the trio was passing on the bridge when it suddenly collapsed, apparently following heavy rainfall.
Owing to the incident, road communication to many areas of Kulasing panchayat and its adjoining areas were cut-off.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that the mishap took place due to the negligence and failure of the district administration in repairing the old bridge.
They demanded immediate repair of the bridge or construction of a new one to connect the cut-off areas at the earliest.
