Patna: A tragic shooting at the Ara Railway Station in Bihar on Tuesday evening left three persons dead, including a 16-year-old girl and her father. The youth, who had pulled the trigger, then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
The incident occurred on the foot overbridge between platforms 3 and 4. According to an eyewitness, a 24-year-old man, later identified as Aman Kumar, opened fire on the 16-year-old girl and her father, on the foot overbridge at Ara station. He then shot himself. All three died on the spot. Authorities are trying to ascertain the motive behind the crime.
RPF senior commandant Prakash Panda told ANI: “Three people have died. The accused, Aman Kumar, a 24-year-old resident of Bhojpur shot dead a minor girl and her father. He later shot himself. We are investigating the matter. We will make arrangements for more CCTV cameras. Although there are around 40 cameras at the railway station, we will get some installed on the foot over bridge. The murder weapon has been seized.”
ASP Parichay Kumar also confirmed the incident. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and a forensic team also collected samples from the place of occurrence. The police are also in touch with relatives of the girl as well as the youth.
It is being suspected that the girl spurned the youth’s advances, leading to the gruesome incident. The girl was on her way to Delhi with her father.
