New Delhi: At least three schools in India the national capital, including two run by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), received bomb threats on Monday morning.
The threats were received by email after which the police swung into action. The premises were evacuated and cyber cells activated. Bomb detection and disposal squads with sniffer dogs reached the schools to carry out checks.
“Nothing suspicious has been found till now. Efforts are on to trace the origin of the threat. Meanwhile, security has been tightened around all educational institutions,” a senior police official said.
The police received calls around 8 am regarding the bomb threats to the CRPF Schools at Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16. There was another threat to the Navy Children School in Chanakyapuri.
“The schools that received the threats are run by a Central Armed Police Force and the Navy. Hence, they are possible targets. Police teams were immediately moved in to check the school premises,” the official said.
“Checks were carried out and the area around the schools sanitised. This seems to be a hoax, but are taking no chances. It is possible that the miscreants are waiting for our guard to drop,” he added.
