Dhenkanal: In a tragic accident, three members of a family were killed and another sustained grievous injuries in a road mishap in Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Subash Mallick, his 2-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.
Sources said that the incident took place when the victims travelling on a motorcycle was run over by a truck while taking a sharp turn at College bypass under Karanjia police station limits on National Highway-55.
Both the children died on the spot while their father and mother were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in critical condition.
While Subash succumbed to his injuries during treatment, her wife Radharani was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The local people caught hold of the truck driver who was attempting to escape from the spot, thrashed him brutally and later handed him over to the police.
