Bhubaneswar: Three Odisha Fire Services personnel were injured after some unidentified miscreants threw stones at the bus in which they were travelling near East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya on Thursday night.

According to reports, the state Fire Services personnel were returning in a bus from the East Jaintia Hills where they are engaged in the rescue operation to evacuate 15 miners trapped inside a rat-hole mine, when a group of unidentified miscreants suddenly pelted the bus with stones and fled the area.

In the attack, the side glass door of the bus was damaged and three personnel were injured.

The incident took place at around 9 pm, about 10 km from the East Jaintia Hills.

Following the incident, the Fire Services personnel informed the local police who rushed to the spot and escorted the bus to their base camp, which is about 60km from the East Jaintia Hills, the reports added.

Talking to the media, the Fire Services personnel said that their journey from the place (where the incident took place) to their base camp was miserable due to bone-chilling cold weather as the wind entered the bus through the broken glass window.
