Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity is likely to continue in many parts of Odisha for five more days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Monday.
Orange warning of thunderstorm, lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60kmph in the afternoon/evening hours has been issued for one or two places of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati districts up to the morning of Tuesday.
Damage may be caused to standing crops, banana trees, loose/unsecured/vulnerable structures due to strong winds in these districts. People have been advised to move to safer places during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph gusting to 50kmph may occur in one or two places of Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur districts during the period.
On May 20-21, a yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph has been issued for one or two places of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, and Sundargarh districts.
On May 21-22, Thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 40- 50kmph gusting to 60kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Nabarangapur districts. Weather agency has issued an orange warning for these districts.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh districts.
On May 22-23, orange warning of thunderstorm with lightning, with surface wind speed reaching 40- 50kmph gusting to 60kmph has been issued for one or two places of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50kmph may occur at one or two places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur districts.
On May 23-24, orange warning of thunderstorm with lightning, surface wind speed reaching 40- 50kmph gusting to 60kmph has been issued for one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening 3 Maximum Temperature Forecast:
As per IMD, there will ne no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 6-7 days in the state.
