Bhubaneswar: Odisha can expect a slight relief from the sweltering heat as thunderstorm activity is likely to pull the mercury down by 2-3°C during the next 3 days.

However, the respite will not last long as the India Meteorological Department has predicted a gradual rise by 2-3°C during the subsequent 2 days at many places in the state, thereafter. “The day temperature is likely to remain 40°C or above at many places in interior Odisha and 3-5°C above normal in some districts of the state during next 24 hours due to prevailing northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation,” according to the midday bulletin.
