Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Tuesday issued thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for 10 districts of Odisha.
According to a Met bulletin, the districts likely to be affected are Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Angul.
The latest Doppler weather radar and satellite images indicate that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and intense spells of rain is likely to occur over these places by 1:30 pm.
People in these areas have also been advised to stay indoors, if such weather conditions prevail.
The weatherman has also predicted rainfall activity to continue in the state for the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal that turned into a depression this morning.
Meanwhile, deputy relief commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra has ruled out possibility of flood-like situation in the state.
