Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm coupled with lightning, surface wind and rain is likely to hit at least 22 districts of Odisha on Wednesday night, the India Meteorological department said in a nowcast warning.
The IMD issued an orange warning for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Sundargarh.
Moderate thunderstorm, lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of tehse eight districts within next two to three hours.
Under its impact minor damage to loose / unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops may occur. People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
Similarly, a yellow warning was issued for Nuapada, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Puri, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Angul, Kalahandi, Balangir and Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city).
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike.
