Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied by rain and gusty wind is likely to lash at least 18 districts of Odisha on Saturday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued an orange warning at 1 pm about moderate thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain in 20 districts within next three hours.
The 18 districts are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Boudh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
Under its impact, minor damage to loose / unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops may occur.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly.
