Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied by gusty wind, lightning and rain is likely to lash at least 14 districts of Odisha on Thursday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
State capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city are also likely to be affected by the thunderstorm.
In a message issued at 1.50 pm, the IMD sounded a yellow warning for Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Angul, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Rayagada, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Balasore and Koraput districts.
Light to moderate thunderstorm, lightning accompanied by gusty wind speed reaching 30- 40 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of these districts within next two to three hours.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places protect from lightning strike
