Tiger Census In Odisha To Begin Tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: The Forest Department is all set to begin annual Tiger census in Odisha from tomorrow.
The census work would continue for a week.
As informed by the Secretary, Forest and Environment, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, the Forest staff will conduct the census work by using camera trap and identifying the pug marks.
He said the Forest department has installed 900 CCTV cameras in several reserve forests to track the movement of the tigers.
He hoped that the number of the tigers in Odisha which was 40 last year will rise this year.
Mohapatra also informed that the number of dolphins in Odisha has also gone up. As per the latest census, Chilika lake has 162 dolphins while the Gahirmatha in Bhitarakanika National Park has 307 dolphins, he added.
