Bhubaneswar: The State Government’s management of quarantine centres has drawn criticism from Union Minister Pratap Sarangi who has called for toughening the security arrangements.
Pointing out that regular reports of Odia migrants escaping from the quarantine houses in different places of the State have exposed poor security arrangements, Sarangi said such laxity has spread panic among the people.
In a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Sarangi said at least three security guards from the villages around the centres should be deployed.
While appreciating the basic facilities like food and sanitation, the Minister of State for MSME, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries said the the primary purpose of quarantine centres of isolating the people is defeated by ignoring the security measures.
