Tokyo Olympics: Discus Thrower Kamlapreet Kaur In Final; Seema Punia, Amit Panghal, Atanu Das Crash out

Tokyo: India’s Kamalpreet Kaur has confirmed a position in the final of the women’s discus throw event on Day 9 of the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. Kamalpreet’s 63.97m throw was the second-best of the day.

While another Indian in the fray, Seema Punia’s Olympics was over as she failed to make the cut for the final. Kamalpreet is now a serious medal contender for India.

On the other hand, there was another bad news for India with boxer Amit Panghal bowing out of the Olympics after losing 1-4 to Colombia’s Yuberjen Herny Martinez.

In archery too India had a bad day with Atanu Das being eliminated early in the day. Atanu Das crashed out of Tokyo Olympics after losing 4-6 to Japanese archer Furukawa Takaharu.
