Tokyo: Indian sprinter from Odisha, Dutee Chand had a disappointing outing as she finished seventh in the Heat of her Women’s 100m Round 1 at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Friday.
Dutee, drawn in Heat 5, achieved a timing of 11.54 and failed to touch her personal best.
The 25-year-old Odisha sprinter was seeded alongside seven other athletes in Heat 5 of Women’s 100m on the opening day of the track and field events at the Tokyo Olympics.
Jamaica’s Shelly Ann-Fraser Pryce won the Heat comfortably with a timing of 10.84s. She was followed by Switzerland’s Ajla del Ponte and Grace Nzubechi Nwokocha of Nigeria.
