Toyota has launched a lower variant G-MT of the Glanza hatchback. The re-badged Maruti Suzuki Baleno was, till now, available only as a hybrid. The new variant gets a 1.2-litre, K12M engine without the mild-hybrid system. It is Rs 24,000 cheaper with a price tag of Rs 6.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The fuel efficiency of the non-hybrid variant is, however, lower (21.01kmpl) than the hybrid one (23.97kmpl).
The Glanza G MT is cheaper than the Baleno Zeta variant by Rs 7,000. While the smart hybrid variant is a whopping Rs 65,000 cheaper than the corresponding Maruti.
The engine is BS6 compliant. It makes 83hp and 113Nm of torque. The mild-hybrid variant makes 90hp and 113Nm of torque. The Glanza is available as a 5-speed manual or CVT.
The Glanza G-MT like its hybrid variant, gets automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls and push-button start-stop system.
Toyota has sold over 11,000 units of the Glanza since its launch in June. Toyota gives a higher 3-year, 1,00,000 km warranty, than Maruti.
Like the Glanza, there will be more cross-badged products from Maruti and Toyota. The Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga will come in Toyota avatars soon.
