Berhampur: In view of the continuing rise in temperature in South Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has issued a comprehensive advisory to help citizens safeguard themselves from heat-related illnesses and potential electrical hazards.
The TPSODL, in a release, mentioned that it has taken several proactive measures to strengthen the distribution network and ensure uninterrupted power supply. It, however, stressed that public awareness and cooperation are crucial in minimising risks during this season.

Summer Safety Guidelines
TPSODL has urged everyone to follow these Do’s and Don’ts to ensure personal well-being and electrical safety.
Do’s
• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
• Wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes to stay cool.
• Use fans, air conditioners, and coolers efficiently to conserve energy.
• Switch off electrical appliances when not in use to avoid overloading.
• Maintain a safe distance from electrical infrastructure such as transformers, electric poles, and substations.
• Use hats, umbrellas, and sunglasses when stepping outdoors to reduce sun exposure.
Don’ts
• Avoid stepping out during peak heat hours.
• Do not touch electrical equipment, poles, or wires with wet hands or while barefoot.
• Refrain from heavy physical activities during extreme heat to prevent heat exhaustion.
• Don’t overload electrical sockets with multiple high-power devices.
• Do not ignore signs of heatstroke such as dizziness, nausea, or severe headaches—seek medical help immediately.
