Berhampur: In view of the continuing rise in temperature in South Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has issued a comprehensive advisory to help citizens safeguard themselves from heat-related illnesses and potential electrical hazards.

The TPSODL, in a release, mentioned that it has taken several proactive measures to strengthen the distribution network and ensure uninterrupted power supply. It, however, stressed that public awareness and cooperation are crucial in minimising risks during this season.

Proactive Measures Taken By TPSODL

• Strengthening of power infrastructure to handle increased load
• Deployment of quick response teams for faster resolution of power-related issues
• Regular inspection and maintenance of transformers and substations
• Public outreach through various channels to spread safety awareness

Summer Safety Guidelines

TPSODL has urged everyone to follow these Do’s and Don’ts to ensure personal well-being and electrical safety.

Do’s
• Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
• Wear light, loose-fitting cotton clothes to stay cool.
• Use fans, air conditioners, and coolers efficiently to conserve energy.
• Switch off electrical appliances when not in use to avoid overloading.
• Maintain a safe distance from electrical infrastructure such as transformers, electric poles, and substations.
• Use hats, umbrellas, and sunglasses when stepping outdoors to reduce sun exposure.

Don’ts
• Avoid stepping out during peak heat hours.
• Do not touch electrical equipment, poles, or wires with wet hands or while barefoot.
• Refrain from heavy physical activities during extreme heat to prevent heat exhaustion.
• Don’t overload electrical sockets with multiple high-power devices.
• Do not ignore signs of heatstroke such as dizziness, nausea, or severe headaches—seek medical help immediately.

“Our aim is to ensure public safety through timely information and awareness. With rising temperatures, it becomes essential for every individual to take precautions. Let us stay healthy, alert, and support each other through this extreme weather. TPSODL remains committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity to every household,” said TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg.

He added that monitor the situation closely and is fully prepared to respond to emergencies.

Consumers can report any electrical faults or emergencies immediately through TPSODL’s helpline numbers 1912 or 18002026, the release added.
