Traffic Restrictions Come Into Force For 1st BJP Govt Swearing-In Ceremony In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Amid the thick security blanket, traffic restrictions will come into force for the swearing-in of the first BJP government in Odisha at Janata Maidan here from 2 pm on Wednesday.

No vehicular movement will be allowed between Jayadev Vihar and Nalco Square till 7 pm or till the event is over.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, the authorities have announced deployment of 3,500 police officers, including 78 platoons of police forces. At least 13 DCP/SP/additional IG rank officers, 18 deputy commandants/additional deputy commandants, 58 assistant commandants/ DSPs/ACPs, 94 inspectors, 312 sub-inspectors/assistant sub-inspectors, 258 havildars and 94 constables will be deployed to maintain law and order. Two special tactical units will also be engaged during the swearing-in ceremony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, six Union ministers — Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Bhupender Yadav, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Ashwini Vaishnaw and CMs of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony along with an estimated crowd of 30,000 people.

The state BJP has also invited outgoing chief minister Naveen Patnaik to the event. Invite has also been sent out to family of Dillip Pahan, a party worker in Ganjam district who was killed in pre-poll violence on May 15. Padma awardees of the state are also likely to participate.

“Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many cabinet rank Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of some other States and many other dignitaries are likely to be present during the ceremony. We are expecting more than 30,000 people at Janata Maidan. Taking all these things into account, we have made elaborate security arrangements for the function. Security arrangements have been tightened at the airport. Proper route lining and traffic arrangements have also been made from the airport to the Governor House and Janata Maidan,” said Commissioner of Sanjeeb Panda.

He said that IG Praveen Kumar has been given the responsibility for the security arrangement at the venue, while DIG Sarthak Sarangi will be in charge of the security arrangements at the airport and DIG Umashankar Dash will oversee security arrangements from the Airport till Janata Maidan and parking facilities for the public near the venue.

For the safety and security of the VVIPs, police will be deployed on the route to Janata Maidan, important crossings, high rise buildings and the venue, he added.

Parking lots have also been identified at different places.

Buses coming from Cuttack side have to take the service road after Rasulgarh ROB —» Vani Vihar Square —» Acharya Vihar, —» right turn —» Apollo Hospital —» Sainik School —» Press Chhak, —»  dropping point at OSAP 7th Battalion Gate —» NALCO Square —» Kalinga Hospital road —» and park their vehicle on the road in a single line from Railway Colony Golei Chhak towards Utkal Hospital and Hatiasuni Chhak.

Buses coming from Nandankanan towards OMFED square have to turn left towards MCL Guest House, and then take the right turn towards Press Chhak before turning right again for the dropping point at OSAP 7th Battalion Gate, NALCO Square, Kalinga Hospital road and park the vehicle on the same stretch.

Buses coming from Khurda side have to take the service road after Jaydev Vihar Square Flyover Bridge —» Acharya Vihar Square—» left turn —» Apollo Hospital —» Sainik School -» Press chhak —» dropping point at OSAP 7th Bn. gate —» NALCO square ~—» Kalinga Hospital road —> and park their vehicle on the same stretch.

Four-wheelers coming from Cuttack side have to take the service road after Rasulgarh ROB —» Vani Vihar Square —» Acharya Vihar —» right turn —» Apollo Hospital —» dropping point at Doordarshan lane proceed towards Sainik School campus and park their vehicle.
