Bhubaneswar: A day after a youth complained about his seized vehicle being damaged during transport, Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi said that the owner can be compensated.
“About 800 vehicles are challaned every day, 24,000 a month and 3 lakh vehicles a year. If a vehicle gets slightly damaged during transport, the owner can be compensated,” he said.
The youth admitted to have flouted traffic rules by driving on the wrong side, but expressed displeasure over damage to the vehicle, which he had burrowed from a friend.
“The traffic cop seized the bike and took it to the police station using a crane. They asked me to collect it from there,” he said.
On reaching the police station, he found that the mirror and stand were damaged. “Who will pay for the damage?” he had questioned.
