Bhubaneswar: As part of its virtual tour of the Odisha State Tribal Museum every Suday, the ST & SC Development Department will highlight Gadaba tribe tomorrow.
Director, SC & ST Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), Bhubaneswar Prof AB Ota said the department will put up the virtual display of Gadaba houses on the social media sites. The viewers can open Facebook and Twitter pages @stscdev, @scstrti for the virtual tour, he added.
Prof Ota said the Gadaba tribals, who mostly live in Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts, build their houses in two rows facing each other. They keep a distance between the rows and each house.
The house, which is called Chhendi Dien by Gadabas, is circular in structure with a conical roof which is supported by a central wooden pole. The house has a living space, a kitchen and an inner room where the family deity is worshipped.
