Mumbai: Preeti Panigrahi, who hails from Odisha, won Best Actor (Critics’ Choice – Female) for her performance in ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ at Filmfare OTT Awards 2025 held in Mumbai on Monday night.

Preeti had earlier received the Special Jury Award for Acting at the Sundance Film Festival 2024 for the film through which the 22-year-old made her screen debut, playing a high school student, Mira, tackling the expectations of being the ‘perfect student’, her own desires and her intriguing relationship/bond with her mother.

Preeti has lived in Delhi most of her life and is studying animation at the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI).

Preeti, however, was not the lone Odia to win accolades at the event. The Filmfare Award for Breakthrough Performance by a Newcomer (Female), Series, went to Lisa Mishra for ‘Call Me Bae’ in which she played news producer Harleen. Lisa spent her childhood in Berhampur before moving to Chicago at the age of six.

The Filmfare OTT Awards 2025 celebrated the best in streaming content with an array of stars in attendance. The awards honoured outstanding performances across series, films and short films. While ‘Paatal Lok Season 2’ and ‘Black Warrant’ dominated the awards in the series category, ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ dazzled in the film categories.
