Angul: Two youths were arrested for allegedly stealing valuables from Maa Bhairabi Temple at Purunagarh in Angul district late on Monday.
Police sources said, some local residents, who caught hold of the duo while they were attempting to loot the donation box and other items from the temple, beat them up severely and later kept them in a locked room for several hours.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot, rescued the looters and took them into custody.
