Two Brokers Nabbed, 800 Grams Gold Biscuit Seized In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Two brokers were arrested by Purighat police for cheating a gold trader of Balasore district and fleeing with his 800 grams gold biscuit. The arrested are Raj Kishore Sahu of Ramchandrapur under Bari police limits in Jajpur district and Jitendra Kumar Sahu of Cuttack.

Narrating the incident, Zonal ACP SN Muduli said Raj Kishore contacted gold trader Santosh Moharana of Remuna in Balasore district and asked him to get 800 grams of gold to make ornaments weighing about 1200 grams.

Santosh reached Cuttack city on March 9 and was being taken to a hallmarking centre in the city near Choudhury Bazaar Raj Kishore. On the way, they met Jitendra and the two left the place with the gold biscuit and assured Santosh that they would return with gold ornaments in lieu of gold biscuit.

After a long wait Santosh searched for Raj Kishore and returned. Two days later  on March 11, he lodged an FIR with Purighat police station. Police launched a lookout and nabbed the two.

The gold biscuit valued at Rs 37 lakh has been seized from the two said the ACP adding investigation is still on.
