Rourkela: A speeding car rammed into a roadside eatery, killing two persons and critically injuring one, in Odisha’s Sundargarh district late on Sunday.
The incident occurred on National Highway (NH) 143 near Jamunanaki under Biramitrapur police limits.
According to sources, three youths were travelling in a car from Kuarmunda to Rourkela. Around 1.30 am, the black car lost control allegedly due to overspeeding and crashed into an eatery along NH-143. The hotel staff, who were sleeping inside, rushed out to check what had happened and informed police.
Police teams from Kuarmunda outpost and Biramitrapur rushed to the spot. While two persons in the severely damaged car died on the spot, the injured was admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital. A portion of the hotel was also damaged in the crash.
Police have recovered the bodies and begun an investigation into the accident. Efforts are on to establish their identities and inform their families.
