Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday confiscated counterfeit currency notes of Rs 200 denomination worth Rs 7 lakh and arrested two persons from Kharavel Nagar in Odisha capital.
The accused have been identified as Satya Narayan Prusty and Bhula Pradhan of Jarada in Ganjam district. They were apprehended from a hotel at Master Canteen here. A printing machine, colours and other materials used for making these notes have been seized from their possession.
Police sources said that the accused learned the technique by watching YouTube videos and improvised on them to print a perfect copy of Rs 200 notes. Prusty had also been swindling money from people on the pretext of providing them jobs since 2020 by posing as a senior government official. He would cheat them by giving fake notes in exchange, the sources added.
Police have received two complaints in this regard.
