Berhampur: Two persons riding a scooter were killed following a head-on with a bus near College Square under Kotinda police limits in Aska area of Odisha’s Ganjam district in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Kunal Sahu and K Rajesh of Gosani Nuagaon.
According to sources, the accident took place when the duo was en route to Bhubaneswar from Aska. They died on the spot under the impact of the collision.
Police have seized the bus and detained the driver for questioning. The bodies have also been sent for postmortem.
Notably, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre here had issued yellow warning of dense fog for one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Jajpur, and Rayagada till 8.30 am. The thick blanket of fog could reduce restricted to 200-50 metre, impacting traffic on national highways, it had added in its advisory.
