Two More School Teachers Suspended For Attending Election Meeting In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Two more school teachers in Odisha have been suspended for violating the Election Commission’s directions for the government servants during the elections by attending a meeting of a political party.
The two teachers are serving at two primary schools in Papadahandi block of Nabarangpur district. One of them, Hautam Charan Behera is a teacher in Upper Primary School at Pitariguda, while the other teacher, Manoj Kumar Hatra, is serving at a school in Pujariguda.
Nabarangpur district collector Kamal Lochan Mishra had received a complaint that both the teachers had attended the meeting of a political party in violation of the Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules. Following a probe by the block education officer, the collector suspended both the teachers.
Earlier this month, two teachers of government schools in Boudh district were suspended on similar grounds.
According to the order of Election Commission of India on March 15, and Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, no government servant will be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor will he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.
