Two Odias In IISc Team That Developed ICU-Grade Ventilator

Bengaluru: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) on Monday announced that it has designed a prototype of an indigenously developed Intensive Care Unit grade ventilator.

Among the team that developed the ventilator in just two months were two Odias – engineer Manas Pradhan and IISc faculty member Pratikash Panda. Other faculty members Gaurab Banerjee, Duvvuri Subrahmanyam and TV Prabhakar. Retired IISc professor HS Jamadagni headed the project ‘PRAANA’ that used the materials made in India and easily available here.

The team is now looking for an industry partner to help develop their innovation into a field-ready product.

Govt of India and State Bank of India’s CSR funding had helped kickstart the project. Narayana Health provided medical testing equipment for validation.
