Two Pakistani Men Abduct 17-year-old Sikh Girl; Family Fears Forced Conversion

Islamabad: Two Muslim men from Panja Saheb in Pakistan abducted 17-year-old girl Bulbul Kaur, daughter of Granthi of Gurdwara Panja Sahib Preetam Singh, 15 days ago in another case of atrocity on Sikhs in Pakistan.

Since then, there is no news of Bulbul and her family is fearing that she may also be forced like Jagjit Kaur to convert to Islam and get married to a Muslim man.

“We are meeting J. P. Singh, Joint Secretary, Foreign Affairs, Incharge Pakistan Desk to urge them to raise this issue and seek justice,” Bulbul’s family was quoted as saying by Zee News. In a video sent to the girl’s father, she has expressed fear of being murdered if she returned to her parents’ house.

Bulbul’s father Pritam Singh has also lodged a complaint with the deputy commissioner of Attock in Pakistan. According to him, Bulbul had gone to dump garbage in the street at 10 pm on August 31 and did not return since then. Singh said when the family couldn’t find her, they lodged a police complaint and the police zeroed in on one Imran Masih, who was set free after initial investigations.

According to the father, his daughter called him on September 15 and informed that she was in a ‘madrassa’.
